tpbee is a drum & bass DJ based in Nottingham. He has been DJing since 1997, and his focus is liquid and minimal drum & bass — the deeper, more spacious end of the genre rather than its loudest.
Much of what shapes a tpbee set happens before the set: digging. He goes a long way into drum & bass releases and labels, well past the familiar names and into small and obscure imprints, looking for records that are easy to miss.
He is an Interstellar Audio resident, playing regularly at its monthly Transmissions night in Nottingham.
Away from the club, tpbee streams live DJ sets on Twitch. The streams are self-produced — he's an unashamed OBS tinkerer, with custom overlays and a good deal of behind-the-scenes automation — but the tinkering serves the music rather than the other way round.
His roots in Nottingham go back a while. In 2003, he co-founded LeftLion, Nottingham's culture magazine and website, as one of its three original founders. He later formed and played in Vinyl Abort, a live PA/band project active around Nottingham in the 2000s.
